Former ANGELLIC RAGE Singer Shot And Killed

July 9, 2008

Paul Stitt (a.k.a. Paul Vee),the former lead singer for the 1990s Denver, Colorado-based metal band ANGELLIC RAGE (MySpace page),was murdered in Las Vegas during a liquor store robbery Tuesday night (July 8),according to KLAS-TV. Now police are trying to find his killers by looking at surveillance video.

Edward Lawrence of KLAS-TV spoke to the victim's relative, who said Stitt was an icon in the Denver music scene and that his murder at the liquor store is going to shake that town's roots.

"I know we lost a good man for $9 bucks an hour. It's just a sad day," his relative said.

Stitt was following his dream to be a rock star. He lived with his stepbrother, who did not want to be identified because the murderers are still on the loose. He showed pictures of Stitt performing with ANGELLIC RAGE at Mile high Stadium in the '90s, opening for IRON MAIDEN.

"Never really got anything going here, but he just wanted to do something so he went down there and wanted to be around people," he said.

He got a job as a clerk and made an impression on complete strangers, like Monaka Glover.

"Paul was a very nice guy. He was nice and kind to everybody all the time," she said. "His life is gone for nothing. They came in, they shot, they didn't — nothing. You know, just killed a nice guy, an innocent guy, for nothing."

Metro Police say Stitt finished his cigarette last night and went back inside the store. Two men followed. Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts say the surveillance video shows one of the men drawing a gun. Police believe it may have gone off accidentally, shooting Stitt once in the head.

"There was a number of people that were outside the liquor store, outside and around the liquor store when this happened. We are hoping that we will get some information on the suspects," said Roberts.

Glover wants the suspects to turn themselves in. So does Stitt's family, who are now making funeral arrangements.

There were no other people inside the store. The eyewitnesses were outside when they heard the shot. Police say the robbers stole money off the victim and are both about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 175 pounds. Both were wearing dark-colored baseball caps.
